NSS - College of Engineering Aranmula

College of Engineering Aranmula has two NSS Units (self-financing units No: 552 and 618) under NSS technical cell. The NSS Unit of our college places an active role in shaping our students into social engineers. Now NSS Activities are included in the academic curriculum so that students are exposed to more opportunities for social services.
This year’s programme started with The Campaign on GENDER GENSIS which was held on August 23, 2017 in association with Department of Social Justice, at Gram Panchayat Auditorium, Narangam. Grama Panchayath president Sri. Srikanth Kalarikkal has inaugurated the Campaign.

Punarjjani is an innovative project designed by the National Service Scheme Technical Cell under the Department of Technical Education to renovate the infrastructure of Government institutions, particularly those in Government Hospitals, especially enhance effective maintenance. The NSS TECHNICAL CELL has revived the large amount of asset through the successful implementation of the Punarjjani last year. The National Service Scheme Technical Cell implemented Punarjjani with the aim of participating in the process of building the majority of our youth with the objective of reconstructing youth skills and giving them the opportunity for personality development through services. National Service Scheme Volunteers also join hands to drive our country to the objectives of the Government of Kerala, with the priority of the state’s sustainable development.

As a part of this project NSS Unit of college of engineering Aranmula selected Adoor General Hospital. Camp was inaugurated by Sri. Chittayam Gopakumar MLA Adoor. The camp started from 5th September 2017. In the following days, the Punarjjani project managed to restore medical equipment worth Rs.47475281/- at General Hospital, Adoor. Each volunteer made significant contribution towards the successful implementation of the project and work day and night continuously. Dignitaries Visited our camp are Smt.ChinthaJerom (Hon.Chairperson, Kerala Youth Commission), Sri.VS Sunilkumar (Hon. Minister for Agriculture), Sri. AntoAntony (Hon. M.P, Pathanamthitta), Sri.Chittayam Gopakumar (Hon. MLA Adoor), Sri. Ganesh Kumar (Hon.MLA, Pathanapuram), Smt.Veena George (Hon.MLA Aranmula), Smt. Shyni Jose (Hon.Chairperson, Adoor Municipality) Sri.Sajith Babu (Regional Director, NSS kerala) Smt. Anithakumari (District Medical Officer) and Dr.R.Sasikumar (Director, CAPE).

NSS Volunteers celebrated 69th Republic day by hoisting the National Flag in the college. As a part of this celebration a photo exhibition was conducted based on the yesterdays of India for school students. Volunteers telecasted live parade for school students at college seminar hall.

As a part of road safety measures NSS volunteers constructed a road safety mirror with an aim to put an end to the alarming increase in accident rate at the dangerous curve near Aranmula temple. The mirror was designed in the form of Aranmula Kannadi (famous traditional handicraft of Aranmula). This mirror erection was inaugurated by Smt. Veena George, MLA Aranmula on 20th January 2018 in the presence of Govt. Officials, College Principal, POs, Students and the Public. This success was the outcome of one month of tough and heavy hard work by our volunteers. Its construction and design were a challengeable task. However this effort received a great appreciation and hearty supports from the public and residents. This project of ours were considered as one of the most socially relevant projects.

The NSS units conducted their Annual Special Camp for the year 2017-2018 from 21/12/2017 to 26/12/2017 in S.V.G.H.S.S Nalkkalikkal . The main project undertook in the camp was Swatch Bharat, Energy conservation Campaign, Malinya Vimuktha Aranmula, and Adopted village empowerment.  The Camping Programme was inaugurated by Smt. Aisha Purushothaman, President Aranmula Grama Panchayath on 21 December 2017. She appreciated the unit for choosing Aranmula Grama Panchayath for camp works.
Naalumanikkatu, an evening park project along the highway sides near Thekkemala was taken up by our Unit. The first phase of the evening park construction was initiated with the help of PWD Pathanamthitta. The premises of the project were cleaned up and leveled in the first phase.  The masterplan for the same is ready and the project will be implemented in the coming year.
