Overview

The department of Diploma in Electrical and Electronics was established in the year 2022 . It offers 3 year diploma program in Electrical and Electronics. Electrical Engineers are not only involved in the generation, transmission, distribution and application of electrical energy but also work closely with other streams of engineering to cater the multidisciplinary needs. The goal of the department is to develop as a centre of education to bring out technically proficient, globally competent and socially committed electrical engineers capable of meeting the needs of rapidly developing society.

About the Course

The course aims to impart the basic principles and detailed analysis of different types of equipment and technologies for generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of Electrical Energy. Electrical Machines, Electronics Devices, and Circuits, Measurements, Instrumentation, Control and Protection of electrical equipment and conversion system, the concept of computer-based design and analysis of power system are included in this course.

The department has dedicated well qualified and experienced professionals as faculty members for imparting quality education. They provide all the support to inculcate self-initiation, innovation, research, and managerial skills in students and thereby create broad minded, technically and ethically strong graduates. The lab facilities are upgraded from time to time to supplement the theory courses and thereby assure good hands on experience for the students.

The EEE association of the institution ANVIEK was inaugurated, to provide an environment for the holistic development of students apart from classroom learning and is looking forward to motivate the students by organizing technical seminars of industrial experts, exhibitions, national and international conferences and by arranging industrial and technical visits etc.

Laboratories under the Department are

Electrical Workshop

The lab is well equipped for ensuring a good introduction to the field of electrical engineering. Students are trained, to identify various electrical components and wiring techniques, to design and set up basic lighting and power circuits, to understand the working of household electrical equipment and protective devices, energy saving etc

Basic Electrical Lab

In this lab, students acquire knowledge in the use of basic electrical measuring instruments and to measure the various electrical quantities. They get a better understanding of electric circuit analysis by comparing theoretical values with experimental results. The lab is equipped with voltmeters ammeters, wattmeters, energy meters, autotransformers, rheostats, inductive loads etc.

Electrical Measurement Lab

The lab is set up to impart training in calibration and testing of various measuring instruments, earth resistance measurement, hysteresis loss determination, use of various bridges for measurement etc. The lab is well equipped with various meters, autotransformers transformers, Potentiometers. Bridges, Earth megger etc.

Digital Electronics Lab

The digital electronics lab has all the facilities to experiment with SSI and MSI chips (GATES, FLIPFLOPS, Counters, MUX/DEMUX, RAM and ROMS). We give training in designing and developing digital circuits and experimenting using Digital Trainer Kits.

Electrical Machines Lab

In this lab students get sufficient knowledge in conducting load tests and other performance tests on various AC and DC machines to determine their regulation, efficiency and various parameters. The lab is equipped with dc generator, series motor, shunt motor, induction motor, synchronous motor, alternators, 3phase & 1phase transformers etc.

Power Electronics Lab

The lab is equipped with various trainer kits, function generators, CRO, DSO, Converter modules, motor speed control modules etc. After completing the course students will have a better understanding of power electronic converters and circuits and their applications in speed control of motors, voltage regulation etc.

Microprocessor Lab

The lab gives hands-on training in microprocessors and microcontrollers. The experiments include assembly language programming, interfacing with ADCs/DACs, LEDs etc.
